DIY Daily Income: Best Blog Software Can Make You Or Break You

If you are interested in starting your own blog one of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing the best blog software.  You have several choices, many of them are free, but before you choose just the right type of software you have to decide what you are going to use your blog for. That really will make a big difference in choosing the right software for your needs.

For example, if you are just blogging about your life and you have no real interest in making money from your blog, than virtually any free software will do, such as WordPress or Blogger.  At this stage the most important thing for you to consider is the ease of use.  You can use each type of blog for a while just to see which one you feel the most comfortable with.

If, on the other hand, you are using your blog to make money either as an affiliate marketer or with the use of Adsense, you will need to be a little more careful.  The actual software can still be the same, for instance many internet marketers prefer the WordPress platforms. The difference is that you won't want a free WordPress site.  Instead you will want to buy your own domain name, so you own it, and have your blog hosted on another site such as Hostgator.com or MyPcHost.com.  That way your blog is your own personal piece of online real estate, you own it and you can control what you put on your site and what you do with it.

Going with the free version for a DIY Daily Income business blog is a very risky proposition  Any of the free blogging sites have their own terms of service (TOS), which are always changing, if they find your blog to not be compliant with their TOS, the can delete your blog.  Now think of what that would mean if you were making money with a particular blog and you've spent time building up traffic to that blog and one day  it was just gone!  Yikes.

Another thing to take into consideration when looking for the best software are the types of plugins available.  Plugins are small software programs that you can literally 'plugin' to your blog by just a few clicks of the mouse, anyone can use them, and there are probably ten's of thousands of them available for every imaginable need, and most are free.  If this concept seems weird to you, just think of them like apps for a smart phone, it's a similar concept.  Some types of blogs will have a lot more plugins than others, so this could help you make up your mind which is best for you.

It's always nice to have options, and when it comes to finding the best blog software you have quite a few.  Just keep your overall goals in mind when trying to decide which is best for you.  For the most part, if you are just a 'personal blogger' and not really in it to make money, the free versions are just fine for you and your needs.

DIY Daily Income: Social Bookmarking for Blog Advertising

Social bookmarking sites are a growing trend and are becoming more popular each and every day. They are a great place to share your bookmarks with everyone and to be able to access them from any computer. They are also a great place that you can post a link to your blog.

There are over fifty social bookmarking sites that you use to submit your link to your blog. Digg, and delicious are just a couple of them that are the most popular. Each site has its own guidelines and rules for posting links, so it's important that you want to read the rules that they have before you post any links.

Because social bookmarking isn't as targeted as other forms of advertising for your blog, you may find that it will take longer for it to be effective. But it's also a good way for you to get your blog noticed and it may bring in people who may not have found your blog another way.

Since social bookmarking doesn't always give you the opportunity to know who it is that has seen your site, or get to know other people, it's always a good idea to keep track of the visitors who say they were linked to your site through a bookmarking site. If the site allows you to put a comment, ask people to let you know on your blog that they found it through a social bookmarking site and which one. That will help you know how effective it is.

DIY Daily Income: Blogging For Profit

More and more people are coming to realize the enormous potential of blogging.  The search engines love fresh content and since blogs are updated frequently they give the search engines what they want, in return the blogs get a high rank in the search engines which results in a lot of free traffic, everyone wins.  If you want to start blogging for profit there are a few basics that you need to keep in mind to get the most out of this potential.

Here are a few points to keep in mind as you set up your online DIY Daily Income blogging business:

1.  There's always varying opinions on what makes the best blog platform, the two top contenders are Wordpress.com and Blogger.com.  Most internet marketers I know recommend WordPress.  It doesn't matter too much which one you choose, just find the software that you feel the most comfortable using.

2. Stay away from using the free WordPress or Blogger services.  I know when you're just starting out you might not have a lot of money, but this is not the place you want to cut corners.  Why?  Because if you use the free services you don't own anything, you have to abide by the terms of service (TOS) of whichever site you are using and these TOS can change often. If you have a profitable site that is getting a lot of traffic and the company updates it's TOS and you're no longer compliant, your blog will be gone.  No discussion, no warning, just gone.  While that doesn't happen too often it is a risk you shouldn't take.

Buying a domain name can be as cheap as $6.50, for that amount you will own that domain for at least one year, you will also have the option of renewing it after the year is over for the same amount.  A hosting account can be as cheap as $9 a month. Both of these combined are a very minimal expense but you will actually own something, it's worth the investment.

3. If you want to monetize your blog so that you can make money there are several ways you can go, two of the most popular are Google Adsense and affiliate marketing.  Google Adsense is a system that you can sign up for, it's free, that will place ads on your blog that relate to the topic of your blog. Whenever one of your visitors clicks on an ad you will earn a commission.  This isn't going to be a huge revenue stream, but you can make some easy money just doing what you're already doing.

Affiliate marketing is when you promote a product or service on your website with a link to a purchase page.  The link has your unique affiliate ID embedded in it so when a purchase is made from that link you will earn a commission. Many marketers believe that combining these two types of income streams is the best way to go.

Blogging for profit is one of the easiest, yet most profitable ways, to start an online business. You can learn the basics in just a few days and be making some money in no time.
